Biography
Max grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was just the second member of his entire family to attend college. He received an academic scholarship to American University, where he studied International Relations, with a concentration in East Asian Studies and economic policy. At AU, he worked for a highly regarded international marketing firm, interned with the U.S. Department of State, and taught English language courses in China. He graduated from the Honors Program in 3.5 years and continued on at a job working for an attorney who specialized in Veteran’s Law.
This experience led him to attend law school. He graduated from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2010. He was awarded the Order of the Coif, the Order of Barristers, and graduated magna cum laude. During law school he was an Articles Editor for the Indiana Law Journal and a moot court Octofinalist.
Following law school, Max continue his passion of assisting Veterans. Max has represented over 1000 Veterans and their family members throughout every level of the claims and Court process. He has represented Veterans before VA, the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. This has included numerous oral arguments before the Court of Appeals. Additionally, Max is regularly featured as an educator in Veterans Law, having presented numerous Continuing Legal Education programs to other attorneys and VA law professionals. He also assists local organizations who serve Veterans, and was a founding member of “Project Rise Above”, a non-profit devoted to helping Veterans charged with criminal offenses succeed in Veterans Courts.
